U.S. Election Drinking Game '08!
As it is the first Yank election I've been old enough to drink for (and the first one I've really given a bitch fit about), I've created a drinking game to go along with it. Earlier in the day I thought I'd be playing it on the sofa, alone, in the dark with a bottle of gin, but Joe, Ror-dawg, Pav, Debs, Stinch, Charlie, Badger and Bissy are here. So it's not quite the evening of doom, gloom and despair I'd expected.
Well it is a little bit. Everyone (I say everyone. The LCD in the room) is complaining about how politics don't affect them and shit. It's an old and tired stance. YES WE CAN! And stuff.
Anyhow. Six polls close imminently.
RULES:
1. Every time you see the stars 'n' stripes, DRINK.
2. Every time someone refers to 'the first Black President of the United States', DRINK.
3. Every time someone says 'freedom', DRINK. (Hasn't happened and is a little harsh of me but let's hope, I want cheeseball commentary and really soppy patriotic sentimentality later)
4. Every time Sarah Palin is 'a hockey mom', 'a bulldog w/lipstick' or 'feminist', DRINK. DRINK THROUGH THE LIES.
5. Every time Obama says "the thing is . . .", DRINK.
6. Every time Joe Biden is even mentioned, DRINK.
We're hanging beers out the window to keep cold and having pizza later, let's get patriotic on across the pond's behalf! It's tomorrow already! YES WE CAN! I'm sorry, I've drunk quite enough already. 90% of exit polls say 'race is not an issue'.
However:
What we DO know about Obama is that he is big and clever. See above.
I'm thanking God that Joe 'International Relations' Williams is sitting next to me, he's making me look cleverer than I am. I don't understand the technicalities as well. Together I think we're making the rest of the room feel small. Apart from Ror-dawg, he's Bob Dylaning it up in the corner and he don'r care what no-one else thinks and I hope you know that if you don't never know the rest.
Oh My God Bissy just farted on Badger and now they're fighting over a chair. What is going on?
A Tuesday Night.
